DCWs are vital members of the healthcare team, supporting the wellbeing and independence of those they serve. The field is growing rapidly, offering meaningful career opportunities that do not require a four-year degree. Training helps interested workers enter the field in a timely, supported way.
Our 66-hour, trainer-led program is aligned with Michigan’s 15 Direct Care Worker Competencies and combines classroom learning with hands-on lab practice. Students learn essential knowledge and gain the confidence to apply what they learn in real-world settings.
Earn up to four level certificates as you move through the program at your own pace. Skills labs are offered across Michigan, with mobile training options that bring learning opportunities to where DCWs live and work.

Anyone age 16 or older who is eligible to work in the United States. No high school diploma or equivalency is required, and no previous experience is needed.
No. There are no prerequisites to begin, and you can take the levels in any order. Level 3 can be taken on its own. In Level 4, some classes must be completed before the hands-on skills labs.
Each specialty class earns its own certificate of completion. For Levels 1 through 4, you earn the level certificate once you complete all of the classes in that level.
Yes. Family caregivers are welcome in our classes and can gain practical, hands-on skills to support the people they care for.

No, the IMPART Alliance training does not replace a CNA program. However, if you are already a CNA, you can still benefit from our training. DCWs with any previous credentials, or experience are welcome to enroll. Our courses are designed with stackable certificates, allowing you to select the best match for your interests or skill gaps. For example, CNAs who haven’t received training in instrumental activities of daily living may find Level 3 courses especially useful.
