Andrea Freidus

Research and Development Lead

Andrea Freidus serves as the Research and Development Lead at IMPART Alliance, where she provides data support for key metrics used to measure the impact of the organization’s programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening the direct care workforce. She holds a Doctorate in Anthropology from Michigan State University.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Freidus authored Voices of Long-Term Care Workers: Care in the Time of COVID-19 and Beyond, a book that highlights the experiences of direct-care workers in the U.S. These essential workers risked their lives to care for older adults during the crisis, often facing immense challenges. The book documents their struggles, successes, and unwavering commitment to their profession, despite systemic obstacles.

“COVID made more visible the issues we already knew negatively affected direct-care workers such as not having a living wage, healthcare benefits, predictable hours or a professional pathway to advancement. This is a vital part of our workforce and DCWs were considered essential during this complex health emergency, yet they were not and never have been treated as such. IMPART Alliance is working hard at rectifying this through a variety of programs and advocacy at multiple levels.”

Freidus’ expertise and dedication align closely with IMPART Alliance’s mission. Her research and advocacy reinforce the organization’s commitment to improving conditions for direct-care workers and ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve.
