Saugatuck Center for the Arts Launches Statewide Caregiver Exhibit — Help Us Find the Next Three Locations

Saugatuck, MI — May 2025 — The Saugatuck Center for the Arts has become the proud pilot site for A Caregiver’s Butterfly Garden, a statewide traveling art installation honoring Michigan’s Direct Care Workers.

The immersive garden, created by artist Zahrah Resh and supported by MSU’s IMPART Alliance and AgeAlive, opened in January 2025 and will remain on display through early 2026. It features thousands of vibrant butterflies—each one handmade by caregivers, students, and community members across the state.

“We’re honored to serve as the launchpad for this powerful project,” said Kristin Armstrong, Executive Director of SCA. “It brings together art, advocacy, and community in a way that’s deeply moving.”

As planning begins for 2026, the team behind the Butterfly Garden is now seeking three new Michigan locations to host the exhibit.

“We’re looking for communities ready to embrace this movement and help us build bridges across generations, cultures, and caregiving experiences,” said Dr. Clare Luz, Founding Director of IMPART Alliance.
